Maps for sale in Chicago

OK, I'm a map junkie.  Whenever I travel somewhere, I need to go out and find a map of the city or area.  As I'm reading the guide books about the city, I like to lay out the map and get a feel for the surrounding area.  Sure, the little maps in the guide books will do in a pinch.  But for me, there's nothing better than laying out a full size map to get a big picture of the area I'm reading about (or ready to travel to). There used to be a bricks and mortar Savvy Traveler on Michigan Avenue, but they are only online now.  I'm sure they still have the great selection they had at the store, but sometimes you like to walk into an actual store and check out the goods.  Rand McNally used to have a beautiful store on Michigan Avenue (444 N Michigan) as well, but that has since closed. The various Barnes and Noble stores have a respectable map section.  If you're looking for good travel books and maps, try these folks out before they go the way of Bord...

Chicago Radio Stations AM

670 WSCR The Score Mike North talks sports in the morning, and Boers & Bernstein talk sports in the evening. Currently they are the place to catch the Blackhawks games, and in general a good station to listen to talk about Chicago sports.

update

No more Mike North! :( But you can now hear Mully and Hanley in the morning drive slot. I miss Mike, but these two are entertaining to listen to. Also, if you're a Dan Patrick fan, he's on at 10 or 11 at night. See here for the schedule.

720 WGN 'World's Greatest Newspaper' (owned by the Chicago Tribune Company for you trivia buffs) Good all around station for talk, news, sports, and more. Maybe you want to join Kathy and Judy's Radio Readers Book Club? Click here. Other popular radio personalities include Spike O'Dell, Paul Harvey, John Williams, Steve Cochran & Milt Rosenberg.

780 WBBM News Radio 780 Great station for news, traffic, weather, sports and business. Tune in at noon on weekdays for the Noon Business Hour. Tune in on the 8's (:08, :18, etc. after the hour) for the latest traffic report. If you're from out of town you might need a quick breakdown on the names of the expressways (click here for a good guide to the names)! This is also the place to tune in to Bears games!

890 WLS 'World's Largest Store' (used to be owned by Sears, Roebuck for you trivia buffs) Chicago's talk radio: Don Wade & Roma, Jerry Agar, Rush Limbaugh, Roe Conn, Sean Hannity and Mark Levin.

1000 ESPN Mike and Mike are fine to listen to in the morning, if you want national sports talk, but Mac, Jurko and Harry (Dan McNeil, John Jurkovic & Harry Teinowitz) provide the Chicago flavored sports from 2-7 pm.

Of course there are other stations in Chicago on the AM dial, but these are the ones stored on my presets!
